Tuner Help

So a few hours before a show I played Monday night (thread in sound room) Someone kicked over my SG which was sitting on a stand. Lucky them I didn't see who it was, or else they'd be dead or something. Lucky for me, the only damage was the G-string tuner. I really needed that guitar for my show, so I ran home and grabbed a tuner off my Blueshawk (which really needs action work before it's playable again anyway) It wasn't a perfect fit, but it held tuning for the show anyway. Should I just replace the G tuner with another Gibson tuner, or replace all 6 with something better. Also, what tuners would be a direct drop in?

Are they the sealed case Grovers or the vintage style tuners? If they are the grovers then any modern sealed case should fit (Gotoh, Schaller, Grover). Sperzels should fit, although you may have to do a little wood finessing depending on how the tuning key holes were drilled.

Unfortunatly, I have not seen OEM gibson tuners available in anything less than a six pack. That said, if they are the Grovers, you can get replacements through Stew-Mac. Grovers, IMO, are worth keeping.

that's the reason why i don't trust guitar stands

but i guess you have to ask yourself...how do you like the tuners that are on there now? do they keep your guitar in tune well? do you like the gear ratio on them?

personally, i don't mind the tuners on my SG. i never have tuning problems, and they look fine, so why change them? it would be quicker, easier, and probably cheaper to replace just the one tuner, but if you aren't satisfied with them then there's no reason not to change them all.
