Tuner Mute / Loop pedals

Hey guys.

I'm in the process of building up a new pedalboard and am toying with the idea of using a 'Tuner Mute' or A/B switch (such as an Electro Harmonix Switchblade) to remove my BOSS TU2 pedal tuner from my signal chain when I'm not using it.

Does anyone else on here do this? If so, what would you say the Pros and Cons? How difficult are Tuner Mute pedals to build? Has anyone here ever built 1?

I'm not too worried about losing the bufering effect of the BOSS pedal as several other pedals on the finished board will have buffers in them :)

Thanks for any info.

My Boss tuner pedal IS my mute....

I use one from Loooper, but he stopped building pedals. I think Joelap or Bbent have built them before, but I'm not sure. Loop Master is another company that can build them.

Hey guys.

I think I'll just try an Electro-Harmonix Switch Blade A/B switch, they're only £20 and I'm sure I can find another use for it somewhere if I don't like how it works out :)

I use a MAtrix pedal tuner. This has a monitor input, if you wanted to you could plug a small monitor into it or headphones. What I did is clipped a ¼" jack off an old cable and stuck it in the monitor out. Now when I step on it to turn it on it mutes everything. Works just the way I want it.

This is a pic of it. These were made by Kaman Musical Instruments, which is the parent Company of Ovation. Its not as good as a Boss TU12, but its great for a pedalboard. Works fine!

Thanks for the posts guys :)

Ive decided that I'm going to buy an EH Switchblade Line switcher and give that a try to see how it works out :)
