Re: Tuner Screws Stripped - OK to glue 'em in place?

OMG!!!

I can't believe all of the poor advice concerning such a simple problem. I started working as a journeyman carpenter 50 years ago and have had a lot of experience with this so I know about it...

The drill and dowel suggestion is good for large holes (3/16" or larger), but it is ridiculous for holes this tiny.

Just follow Livingdead's advice. This IS the solution! A little Elmers glue on a toothpick (or as many as you can force into the hole ... I tap them in with a small ball peen hammer or the butt end of a screwdriver). The repair will be stronger than the original wood, and it will not show under the tuner.

It just so happens that the best solution is also the easiest.

+1 I agree just pound it in there and bang it with a hammer
Glue doesn't hurt either

This so much.

Re: Tuner Screws Stripped - OK to glue 'em in place?

The tooth pick trick will work but it is a bit Mickey Mouse. To stop the problem in the future put a few drops of super glue into the holes and work it in with a needle or safety pin, just be careful not to get it all over. The wood will absorb the glue and when it dries the wood will become very hard and wont strip very easily again. It will also swell the hole up a bit and make the screws tighter. Again, just be careful cuz the super glue can really mess up a finish if it gets all over.
