They are really handy; I'd say I have a decent ear for ntoes but I can still majorly screw up a guitar's tuning. An electronic tuner makes the whole thing way easier and more accurate - plus you can share the tuner in your band and make sure that everyone is exactly in tune with each other. If you see one kicking about for £10 (about $20) then get one.

Just get a decent solid tuner IMO, that looks flimsy, if it doesn't get lost (which being the size of a pick it will) then it will be mistakenly trodden on and broken i think.

I was looking at those the other day. I thought it was a pretty cool little tool, but hey I'm a geek. I might just pick one up for the hell of it. I like how they etched a guitar on to the board too.

I think it's a pretty cool concept but don't know whether it's particularly useful.

I have a number of tuners (one tuner pedal, one little tuner than goes in my gig bag, tuners in various multiFX boxes, and a Peterson virtual strobe) but I struggle to come up with an application where this would be preferable to any of the tuners I already have.

You could also check out a Wittner GT-30. It's analog. I have one and I find it more accurate than my brother's Korg.

looks crappy to me.

i would think that where on the string you shined the light would have an effect on how that thing works. one has to consider nodes and so forth.

(if you don't know what nodes are, do some research on the physics of standing waves, which is what guitar strings are when they vibrate)
