Turning the Pickup Around vs Flipping the Magnet (2-HB PRS Switch)

A question (Neck Pickup):
Using the Schaller 'P' switch.
Is turning the pickup around so screw coil is facing bridge the EXACT same thing as flipping the magnet?
(Taking for granted the pickup has equal coils)

Because...if I flip the magnet and install the pickup as normal (screw coil facing neck), the wiring color code should remain the same to wire the switch.
If I turn the pickup around, then I have to switch the color codes around when wiring.
It takes 5 minutes to flip a magnet and I'd prefer to leave the wiring color code and pickup orientation as per normal.
Is this correct, am I missing anything?

No, turning the pickup is not the same as flipping the magnet. When you flip the magnet, the relationship between the magnet and the coils/wire in the pickup changes. This is what creates an out-of-phase tone when combined with another pickup. When all you do is turn the pickup, the relationship between the magnet and the coils/wire stays the same.

^correct, sir!
It is common to think you can change phase by flipping the magnet, but it doesn't work that way.

Well I flipped it (DiMarzio).
What a PITA!
Much more time and effort than a Duncan, but its done.

For the record and as said by this fool of freefrog in a recent topic, the only way to obtain OOP by modifying the position of a pickup is to suspend it upside down above the strings (been there, done that). :7:
