Twelve string strat build

Re: Twelve string strat build

Nice score! Is that a Squier Affinity? It sure looks like it. The grain looks great and it's Alder wood.:approve:

Hey thanks! It's actually a lovely $99 squier bullet.

As for pickup configuration I'm going to leave it as is and get it to function, then I'll swap pickguard, pickups, ect.
I'm thinking tortoise pickguard and cream pickups. HSS layout, fender chrome hum-bucker, or something like that.

Well that's good for $99, but maybe you could have gotten a bit lower to maybe $80, or even $60. Still it is a beauty! As for an HSS config. you should try to mix it up a bit like in this photo of you all-time favourite guitar, the Gibson SG, which I know you are dying for one and that your life would not be complete without owning one.:scratchch:approve:

I would have tried to get it for less but it was actually a re stock at long and mcquade, and I don't think they would have appreciated it if I had tried to haggle:approve:

A nickle humbucker would look good in this thing... Hmmm, so much to think about...

A nickle humbucker? Don't you want to go for a dimebag humbucker??:naughty: And Rokkbert, I suggest you bring this to Long & McQuade next time and I guarantee you can probably get another Squier bullet for maybe $40 - $50. Just make sure it's sharpened.:scratchch

Haha. I'll keep that in mind.

Re: Twelve string strat build

In my opinion, if you can get the same model of humbucker in cream, that would look better. Or maybe I just have a complex when it comes to different colored pickups... :P

I agree with you. I may try yellowing them or something.

Re: Twelve string strat build

Wow thanks. I didn't even think of that! Problem solved!

That sticker thing on the humbucker looks like a cool idea. Here's also another option Rokkbert, especially if you drink coffee!: popworm: The pick up covers on my strat used to be ultra white. I've always loved the aged look and wondered how I could age my pick ups. I soaked the covers, the trem tip, the 5-way switch tip, & control knobs all in a big mug of coffee for over 24 hours, and the results were pretty awesome in my view. I fell in love with my guitar again and I love how the covers and everything looks. Here's a pic close up and also there is a video that gave me the idea of this coffee aging technique. This guy is also a member on MLP.:earl:

That's what I was contemplating doing. If the stickers won't work I'll do that. :bigthumb

But remember, you are too young to drink coffee. Wait until you are 16, then you can relic your pick-ups!:birthday: Or there is another solution...decaffeinated! :omg:

Once you get older Rokkbert, you'll learn to love coffee. It's a way of life! You'll be able to get your guitar projects done at lightening speed depending on how much coffee you drink. It also opens a door to a whole new thought process, inspired by caffeine. Speaking of, I notice an improved tone in my strat since the covers were thoroughly soaked in caffeine. The sound of my guitar is more lively and awake. It does seem to experience sleep deprivation which could be a health concern sometime in the future.:omg::crazy:
