Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

Hi all,

I have recently purchased the twin tube pedal but without its power supply. Other than the Seymour Duncan power supply, are there any other ones that could work with this pedal (which runs on 16v, 560ma)?

Since I have a bunch of other pedals (standard 9v), I'm also considering getting a power brick. Does anyone know if there are any out there that support both standard 9v pedals and the SFX-03? I looked up Voodoo lab, Gator, and BBE products and couldn't find anything. The only one I think might do the job is the Cioks AC10 which provides 16v and 800 ma.

Thanks!
Uri

Be aware that the Twin Tube must have an AC power source. Wal-warts or bricks that output DC won't work. Its because the TT series uses an internal step-up transformer to supply true high-voltage to the tubes.

I am having the same doubts,... so I wonder if you then managed to power Twin Tube with Cioks AC10? Or if anyone else is using Cioks AC10 for powering Twin Tube?

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

I misplaced the PS for my TT Classic, and also have a TT Mayhem that I bought used without a power supply. I've been scouring the local electronics places, but AC - AC wall warts are a lot harder to find than they were just a few years ago. Radio Shack used to carry a 16VAC wall wart (a replacement for AT&T cordless phones, I think) but they only carry DC wall warts today.

I have come to the conclusion that the best solution is to contact SD to see about buying a replacement. Can anyone from SD confirm that this is available as a replacement part?

I have the original power supply for Twin Tube, however, I am optimizing my gear and
would like to replace all these transformers with only one ' powerbrick',... and I am seriously
considering Cioks AC10,... but I would really like to hear a first-hand experience from someone
using Cioks AC10 to power Twin Tube.

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

The SD PS is not a common item. I power the rest of my pedals with a 1-spot. I use the OEM PS for the TTC.

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

Yes. It is. The part number is 11802-02 and the USA MSRP is $15. (MAP is around $11). Any Seymour Duncan dealer can order them.

Sweetwater, Musiciainsfriend, and all of the other online Seymour Duncan dealers don't carry them...

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

The silence probably means that noone on that forum managed to power the Twin Tube Classic with Cioks AC10 power brick,.... hmmm,...

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

Did anyone even try?

I'm ordering the SD power supply. The price is right, and it's original equipment.

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

For what it's worth, to anyone that still needs one. I bought mine off the guy selling them on e-bay, that was listed a few posts back. He has perfect feedback, including mine. He had 10's of thousands of feedback too. The power supply is made in China, and according to my Fluke 88, output is proper 18 VAC.

Re: Twin tube classic SFX03 power supply

Indeed a separate power supply is the best option IMO. But you used 18V instead of 16V?
