Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

Hi! I just received a Seymour Duncan '59 Tele bridge pickup. I'm trying to put it on my Vintage Hot Rod '52 Tele. At the same time I'm changing the pots, I'm putting two 500K volumes replacing the existing 250K volume and the tone control (with I don't use anyway). There are many wiring diagrams on the Seymour Duncan website but not the one I need. I would appreciate any help!

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

That diagram is for two single-coils. I have a mini-humbucker and a singlecoil-size humbucker so that doesn't work for me.

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

In the humbucker tab they have diagrams for that. I used the 2hum, 2vol, 3way switch diagram. the mini and the single size should wire up the same.

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

Ok, I'll try that! However, the 3-way switch on the diagram isn't the same as on a Tele...

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

Does your '59 have four wires plus ground? If so, solder the red and white together and wrap with some electical tape, then use the diagram above substituting the green for the black wire (to ground) and the black goes to the lug.

If you can't figure it out from the many diagrams on the Duncan site, maybe you should take it to a tech.

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

The pickups and the switch works know but I have lots of buzz. I don't know how to do with the ground....

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

Ok, I got rid of the buzz, I had made a mistake wiring the output. Thanks for your help!

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

I love the sound! The '59 sounds "thicker" than the original single coil pickup but still has the "snap" of the Telecaster tone. I didn't ground the pickups to the back of the bridge yet, they weren't grounded originally but I guess it's a good idea to do it anyway. I do have a little glitch in the bridge volume pot, I don't understand why but I'll try to resolder everything.

Re: Two Humbuckers No Tone wiring

I couldn't get rid of the glitch even after resoldering everything. I took the guitar to a tech this morning and now it's fixed!

A pickup is a pickup. That diagram will work for any two passive two-lead pickups with a Fender three-way blade switch. If you have a four lead humbucker, just turn it into a two lead one, follow the chart, and you should be ready to go.
