i think you should keep the hotrails out of the neck position. Don't want to destroy the sweet neck tone with too much output!

Re: Two Pup Combo options. Which one is *BETTER*?

neither..........I would go for a custom/cool rails/lil' 59 if i was you.

o btw, whats the amp and what style of music

I agree 100% but, The cool rails and the little 59 are pretty much the same exact pickup as far as I know, they just look different from each other.

No, no, no ...
I have a Hot Rails in the neck pos of one guitar, and a Joe Barden in the neck of another.
It rocks!!

I have doubts about the Custom, tho ...

Re: Two Pup Combo options. Which one is *BETTER*?

I would put the JB Jr in the neck, but if your amp has enough gain on it's own, I would go with a slightly lower output combo. Maybe a pair of Hot Stacks and a 59 or Svreamin Demon at the bridge would work?

Isn't a JB Jr quite "inappropriate" for the neck because of it's tiny pole pieces (I mean because of the bending issue)?

Not in my experience it isn't.

Go for hot pickups in the bridge and neck definitely, but get something cooler in the middle because it gives you so much more versatility its not funny!

Id ditch the custom and get a JB in the bridge, then from the sound of what you want id get a cool rails in the middle and a hot rails in the neck, and you could even go cooler in the middle with something like a duckbucker which would give you some awesome clean tones too...in fact i think definitely a duckbucker in the middle, with JB (or custom if you're dead set on it) in the bridge and a hot rails in the neck. That will be one awesome tone monster!

cool rails neck, little '59 middle, Custom, JB, or Distortion for the bridge. Trust me on this one, it rocks hard and you get all kinds of tones. I used a cool rails, lil '59, and distortion in a HSS guitar before and it was so cool sounding.
