Two Questions

Okay, I got two major questions......

1. What's better? The Seymour Duncan Invader or the Gibson Dirty Fingers? Please just answer the question, don't come and say the JB r0x.

2. Can I put the Gibson Dirty Fingers in a Strat?

Re: Two Questions

Although this is the seymour duncan site were not really biased to only using duncans,
And this is a question for the pickup lounge..

Re: Two Questions

This should be in the pickup lounge, but I´ll answer anyway ;)

1. Neither. It depends on what tone you´re looking for. The 2 pickups sound a bit different, both are great for certain styles. What are you looking for and what is it going into? (Lemme Guess, you want Tom Delonge´s tone? ;))

2. Both will fit in a strat that is routed for a humbucker at the bridge, otherwise you´ll need a new pickguard and possibly a bit of routing on the body.

Re: Two Questions

I would'uv answered but i have no experience with either :laugh2:
But we cant tell you which is better because tone is subjective so you'd have to decide that for yourself..

I'd also guess that you want tom delonge's tone ??
So i guess that would depend on which albums tone your after. But keep in mind that ultimatly it will be the amp that will get you closest to his tone..I believe before the new album he was using a Triple Recto and JCM 900..

Re: Two Questions

gah i hate pop punk, anyways

from looking at gear enough, i know the guys from simple plan use fat telecasters & mxr doubleshot distortion (on the non-dimebag channel)

if i were you i'd just get those, or get your strat sounding like a fat tele, and get the doubleshot, then try both through a lot of amps & see what you like

a marshall avt150 would get you there, but well, don't get me or anyone else here started on those heads, haha

Re: Two Questions

You really could do alot better than an AVT IMO, From my exp. the mg series sounded better..

gah, I hate emo hair, anyways

Get the point? Don't bash people, they don't want to hear it, and it does no good.

Re: Two Questions

We need more info. What gear are you using? What tone do you want? Are you a lefty or a righty? ;) I think you get it, you really can't ask what is "better", especially when not even giving us a grain of a desired tone.

Re: Two Questions

The JB ROXXXXXX!!!!!!! :saeek:

Joking. :)

What gear are you using and what sound are you cahsing?

Re: Two Questions

Okay, I want a tone sorta like....I would say Sum 41/Blink(Please Dont bash, I know we don't share the same interest, but their tone rocks). I'm running it through a ds-2/mt-2 on a Fat Strat.

not to **** with you, but i personally thing a JB would cover that... I dont listen to those bands all, but i've heard them before. But if your dead set on a dirty fingers or invader... go invader...

Re: Two Questions

Tom Delonge's tone is pretty f*kin sweet IMO , his guitar sounded really great on Enema of the state..but i think thats all production because ive heard some live shows and his tone blows, but it's probobly to do with his lack of technique :laugh2:
If you really want their tone it's probobly best to go with what they play, if you want it that bad, but I dont think Sum41 use invaders or dirty fingers, remember the amp will be the deciding factor in your tone..

I have only used the Invader. But judging by the reviews of the Gibson Dirty Fingers they both lack clarity. Thats one of the biggest problems with the Invader that I found. Invaders are great sounding for power chords on the distortion channel but once you start individual string picking on the distortion channel the bass of the pickup just drowns out pretty much any high string you play IMO. Also a Gibson Dirty Fingers Pickup can be installed in your guitar if the bridge of your guitar is routed for a full size humbucker. :saeek:
