Re: Two Rock and Tone King amps?
I never had any experience with Two-Rock until recently. The only thing I knew about them was the commendation on snobby forums like TGP which I largely ignored. Once I found out that they cost $4000 and up, I completely disregarded them. However, a few weeks ago that all changed when I finally found a 35 watter to plug into.
It was such an incredible experience playing it that I wrote a little Two-Rock thread here recently. I never had the pleasure of thoroughly enjoying mild overdriven soloing before but Two-Rock changed my mind. It was a revelation of how an amp should sound and respond.
The 35 watter I played was priced at $2500 which seemed a lot more feasible at that price range. When you have an amp like that, which provides a warm welcome to all kinds of overdrive/boost pedals, has an FX loop for all your fancy effects, and a very effective EQ, then you have to really consider it among the very top of your most coveted amps list.
As people have probably already pointed out, they are exquisitely designed and flawlessly built. I would buy one, gig without a backup and never worry about anything more than routine maintenance.
Their warranty is only 5 years like Marshall and Fender. Soldano is still king of warranties because they offer a lifetime warranty on their amps and do stand behind it. However, Two-Rock gives you the option of sending your amp to them for service to get certified used and you can pay $300 for an additional 3 year warranty which I guess is fair but I'd like to see them stand by a warranty like Soldano does.
