Typical Strat question with a twist

hi, Right now I have a JB Jr. in my strat bridge, for recording its great but live its dry and unforgiving. I miss my Custom Custom I have in my Carvin. Now my #2 guitar.
I also have a Lil '59 Tele Bridge in a beater project guitar...the holes are not nice for strat. Although I don't mind making new ones in the pickguard.

soundwise I love the smoother attack on the CC, but the Lil '59 makes more sense sizewise. If I don't care about a little new routing and new holes in my pickguard for the fullsize CC, wouldn't this be a better choice? I have these 2 options because I can't buy anything new right now. I also won't be changing to 500k pots anytime soon thats outta my league. I don't know you'll probably say try them both . However, the CC can be split and I like that possibility.
What would You do my friends?

also, what would happen if I mounted the CC using the strat single coil holes in the pickguard, at an angle. Would this be a problem in any way soundwise? Thanks

I have to say that I think a standard routed CC is the best HB for a strat. Sometimes it might be a little too thick, then either an a3 or a 59b would be the cure.

Lil buckers are cool but they do not sound like full sized ones. I think they are a little too compressed and tight (which I associate with the size of the magnetic field) than full sized HBs.

Why do the people in here always make impossible comparisons and want the impossible? Myself included.

Go with the CC. You OBVIOUSLY want it. I use a Lil 59 in a strat and it's NO CC by any measure. If you want that fat, spongy sound and great full lead tone, a Lil 59 will not give you anything in the realm of a CC sound, ESP NOT WITH A 500k POT. If you want a darker sound and to stay single coil, get a HOT RAIL, its has less highs.

yeah I mentioned the 500k pot because I read about it all the time related to humbuckers
But' I'm not doing it. Don't know how, don't want to go buy anything. I'm going to put in the CC tonight. I loved it in my Carvin. That was poplar, this Strat is Alder. Don't know if it'll be different but the JB Jr. is gettin me down, have to do something. Tubes, amp settings, nothing will satisfy now. It must be the CC:smokin:

Hi. I would say that if you want that CC sound, then put it in the bridge with a small coil-tap switch. Pop the jb jr. in the neck (because you can get some cool twangy almost tele tones out of it) and maybe wait and get a duckbucker or even a vintage rails for the middle.

I got it in last night and this AM. Yes it took a long time. (I have only a few tools.) Lets just say its about 1 step better than the old EVH original red guitar job. :smack:
Anyway I leave the coil split job for another time, when I can take it to my tech and he can put in a splitting switch for me. Don't want push-pull pot. I will not touch this job myself.
Luckily it works, I've played around with it, and I'm thrilled I have my CC back !:dance:

I wouldn't be against 250k pots on a CC, but I am still one of those people who prefers 500k pots on humbuckers, even on strats.
