Ugliest name brand guitars, in your opinion?

Re: Ugliest name brand guitars, in your opinion?

Guitars are cool. Even the ugly ones.

Bingo. I really haven't seen a guitar that I didn't want to play. Except those home modified guitars where the person roughly cuts off a horn or two to make the guitar "play" better.

FTR I love Parkers & Danos.

Just because something's cool doesn't mean it isn't ugly. Living proof right here, yo. :D

There's plenty of guitars that I'd have a blast playing, yet don't particularly like looking at.

Guitars are cool. Ugly guitars still exist.

B.C. Rich...awesome playing and sounding guitars that are truly FUGLY.

Well, I do agree with this statement. I sometimes find myself playing the ugliest looking guitars only to find out the most interesting sounding guitars... Looks end up growing up on you. I used to dislike Telecasters... I now like them because I got used to their plain wood slab looks, and I ended loving their sound. All guitars are cool indeed!

Re: Ugliest name brand guitars, in your opinion?

I don't understand. Is it the name or the body shape that matter?
If it is name,I think the ugliest name is Tokai. In my place,Tokai is slang word for sh!t.
If it is body shape, now there's a lot of them.
Gibson: Reverse V,Reverse explorer,
Ibanez: Fireman (Paul Gilbert sig),
Schecter: Ultra (Robert Smith and Dan Donegan sig),
Fender: Mustang,Jaguar and Jazzmaster (Kurt Cobain model included),
Dean: Splittail
ESP: Richard Z sig
BC Rich: Beast, Virgin and Virgo
Jackson: Death Angel Kelly, Alien-like custom green guitar (I forgot what name)

EDIT: Wangcaster and girl guitar for pedo that has been recently posted also count
(hide under Kadaffi's bunker)

ICEMAN 79's guitar is pretty beat, hence the NGD Disappointment thread

Re: Ugliest name brand guitars, in your opinion?

This thread is screaming out Burns...guitars so ugly that they contravene the Nuremburg Principles.

Re: Ugliest name brand guitars, in your opinion?

Ibanez JEMs, Mosrites, Epiphone SG/V crossover, and almost all DBZ guitars.

Re: Ugliest name brand guitars, in your opinion?

Those ESP Custom shop cluster F***s. I'm talking about the really far out ones, like the ones look like angels and swords. Those things are ugly.

Most Eastwoods.

I just don't get the whole Eastwood thing to start with and I've never played one that floated myboat.

Oh well...

I mostly agree, but I do like their non-reverse Firebird-based guitar. My bandmate has a black one, and I may be given a gold one by a friend soon.

Those punk guitars like Mosrite and now Schecter Richard Fortus model, also Rickenbacker, Danelectro, that square guitar played by Albert King or Muddy Waters or somebody? I forgot; Telecaster of course, especially the headstock, pointy BC Rich and Deans.

LTD Devil Girl or what was that? I didn't even dare to memorise...

Any guitar with this kitschy cheesy 90's retro kind of look:

Some of you remember, after shredder guitars went out of style, this was the look that seemed to dominate for a few years. If I had to put my finger on what I don't like about it, I'd say something about the lines is wrong. The Jagstang and Eclipse body shapes look misshapen. The pickguard shapes look whacked. I think pearloid looks kitschy. Eastwood and Danelectro have been mentioned in this thread. They're two more examples of this look. Eastwood goes hard after that cheap, pawnshop guitar look.

I also don't like pearloid pickguards. I think a black one on a Sunburst Strat looks sharp. But I think guitars with black hardware, skinny necks and Floyd Roses look sharp. I also think creme plastic parts (pickups, mounting rings, pickguards) and gold hardware look sharp together.
