Ultimate Neck pup

I am looking for a really nice smooth creamy fat, neck pickup that sounds great light to moderately overdriven. I do not want the bass to get muddy and flab out but remain solid. I also dont like the treble to get shrill or brittle.
It should sound good clean. Im not after anything near metal. I want to be able to hear the notes cleary and smooth when playing an open G chord. I dont like the idea of the Jazz because it sounds like its not fat but scooped and to trebly and articulate. But i could be wrong?

The closest thing I have heard that I like is the a mightymite neck pickup in a old cort mirage guitar, but have never heard anything like it in any other gat. you know any duncans that sound like this?

It will match a SH5 Duncan custom with a coil split in my PRS santana se.

For ultimate tone what do you guys suggest?

Re: Ultimate Neck pup

alnico 2 pro hum neck sounds like the pup u're looking for.
really fat tone w/o getting muddy and it wont be britle sounding at all.
and the clean tones for this pup is pretty darn decent, heh. not sparkly clean but solid warm clean.

Re: Ultimate Neck pup

PG. I find that the Alnico II Pros mud out with gain.

seth lover all the way, great in clean and overdriven. its **** for metal but u dont want metal so it doesnt matter.

Re: Ultimate Neck pup

The Seth Lover would be my suggestion. It's what I use in my own guitars. That or the Antiquity. Lew
