Personally, I think there are other better options from better brands. I am sure the Ultraphonix is a great pedal but I wouldn't go near anything from Mason.
Despite a very questionable history...literally bulk buying cheap Chinese wah pedals and gooping the electronics while slapping his name on it to sell at boutique prices claiming handwired product, misrepresenting his education and credentials in electrical engineering, lying about his cables, misrepresenting his artist pedalboard "builds", misprepresnting artist support without permission, etc...I gave Vertex another chance due to a statement by Robben Ford and what seemed like a sincere apology from Mason.
I was one of the first to prepay for the Ultraphonix during a sales push were prepay customers were promised a delivery date before retail stores–never received one.
Retail stores received pedals while I (and multiple other prepay individuals) were told Vertex was still waiting for parts. Prepaid customers were sent multiple e-mails saying that they would ship soon, ship on this date, etc. but kept getting pushed aside for the big name stores.
I had ton of communication with multiple people at Vertex, including Mason, that completely contradicted what was promised and the official communication on their website and social media (including various "updates".) I finally received a refund in August of 2018 after starting communication in March of 2018.
Its hilarious that he made a passive-aggressive video about a cheap pedal "cloning" one his pedals when he literally sold cheap Chinese pedals as his own handwired pedals.
At the end of the day there is a market for Vertex stuff that sounds good enough for him to stay in business–I would suggest people support honest businesses instead.
