umpteenth wiring question

Re: umpteenth wiring question

The 500k mode is definitely missing from the german diagram outside of HB bridge only, which is why the other guy is suggesting a defeat/bypass with a push/pull switch. But I gotta say it again. It will change the tone, but its probably not going to sound anywhere near as good as having 2 real discrete vol. pots to select from. IMHO, I have seen the resistor load trick in production wiring diagrams, and its not used on the volume pot, at least without doing other things. Its typically switch mounted, along with a bunch of other things. The original poster has probably started another thread with some of these directions. In any case do yourself a favor and give the 2 vol pots, 2 mini switches, with 500 k direct to jack wiring a try...

Re: umpteenth wiring question

It wasnt putting the resistor across the pup in effect, spiritually or anything, because there are other components, or in a single/split mode, he wants 500k in humbucker mode, lol, it was on the volume pot, and it lacked a switch. a pushpull will work to activate/deactivate the load mode. But I gotta say it again. It will change the tone, but its probably not nearly as good as having 2 real discrete vol. pots to select from.
The resistor function changes the load, but only if there were one isolated component. The pup vol. Tone setup is more like 4-5 components... so it won't do what you want... it changes the tone, but not what our looking to do. Putting the resistor on the vol or switch changes the load of other components, not just the vol pot or switch. So its not discrete, its fubar.
