The new girl will probably use all the other girl's conditioner. On date night, no less.

sometimes you just have to adjust

**********

and you know how those cheap box guitars always need the fret ends filed
and a bit of a tweak to set them up.

Not this one
the edges of the fretboard are smooth as silk
neck is as slim as the Martin
and action is almost as low as an electric
and it comes with D'Addario strings

I'm soo stoked

Re: unbleivable NGD from MF -- Alvarez content

Nice deal. So how is the set up out of the box? How bout the tone? Of course, at that price how can you go wrong? Congrats on a great score.

Re: unbleivable NGD from MF -- Alvarez content

coming out of the box
the strings were just a bit flat ( as expected )
brought them up to pitch and she sounded nice
a little bright and stiff
but with new acoustics this is normal
as she gets played and gets broken in
she will sweeten up just as the Martin did

I remember the Martin's first days home were just the same
but it warmed up after a month or so

just gotta put a couple of hours into playing it and it should be fine

as my friend said
for a beat around guitar, it cant be beat

the case is worth $50 by itself

oh the case is such a snug fit
it "exhales" when putting it up

the dots on the fretboard are really small
much smaller than the Martin
not really a thing
but I did notice
has side dots and such

grain on the back is nice
it may be laminated sides IDK
It claims to have a solid spruce top
this may be the case
we will see in a few months if the top bubbles like a $99 Fender Photo-phlame

the only thing that would have made it sweeter is if it came with a strap and Tuner

the Acoustic/Electric version has one built in for $50 more and a Cutaway like the Martin

the Martin would have been soo mad if that one had showed up instead

Re: unbleivable NGD from MF -- Alvarez content

dayum, a hard shell case too?! I'm dropping like $30 to get a new nut on my Takamine - I shoulda just bought one of these! (Although I love the feel of the takamine).

Speaking of cheap acoustics I played a $350 Taylor the other day and was blown away at that price point.

Re: unbleivable NGD from MF -- Alvarez content

This place is like crack for a junkie! LOL

Now you've got me jonesing on some of those Artist models for $300 - $500. I'm going to back away and go play one of my acoustics! Time to push away from the monitor. That jumbo and grand auditorium are killing me. :)

Re: unbleivable NGD from MF -- Alvarez content

I've been playing an Alvarez-Yairi DY-45 for almost 20 years. It was my dad's guitar, but it's kinda on extended loan to me. I have only heard a few other guitars sound as sweet; one was another Alvarez, the other was a Gretch acoustic.

Re: unbleivable NGD from MF -- Alvarez content

I couldn't justify another acoustic, but I told my friend/co-worker about it. 5 minutes later, he ordered this one.
I can't wait for it to be delivered at work so I can check it out.

yea I know what you mean
I took this one over to my friends house since he was looking at replacing the preamp in his Fender Acoustic
and told him he could get the A/E version of mine for $150
it would be almost identical to the Martin in the OP

and of course as I bragged to a co-worker today, he said he was going to look in on one tonight
