I like the color scheme of it. Does it sound a lot like a Matchless Lightning, or does it take on it's own unique character? How's the breakup on it? I wish I could have checked it out last week, but I'm sure I'll get a chance to play with one eventually.

LIke a lightning with better bass. Breaks up early. Adding a second speaker increases clean headroom, but not by tons. It's a little kick ass machine. EL84 grind.

My wife saw it and so no way on the maroon. With black tolex, she loves the maroon or gold.

She wants me to do it in a cream with brown knobs or go with a dark brown faceplate with the cream knobs. Her tasted in design is infinitely better than mine. But she agrees that the maroon doesn't work with the rosewood very well. Her first choice is a more bright color faceplate and go with the darker knobs.
