Unexpected new guitar day X 4

I have this friend from many years ago who has been going through a lot. Financial things, homeless things, life has been unfair and cruel to him.

He called me the other day saying he has to close his storage unit and throwing everything out!
Wanted to know if I felt like driving up and saving any of his relics from the dump.

I said sure. We hung out for about an hour talking about old times, living in the past, and shaking our heads at how quickly the years have flown by!

He a great guy, wish I could do more for him. But I'll keep his treasures from instant death for sure!

I know nothing about these, so feel free to chime in until I get time to look em up.

some sort of pickup to run thru the pedalboard interface....

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

So from what I can tell, the Orlando is a jap made guitar, made 70s pretty good quality, kinda rarish these days.

Peavey is a dream guitar with a small but serious following. Ooooh my first kahler.

The hagstrom is a rare bird too, but this one doesn't have the 6 or 7 arcade sized colored buttons...its been customized with a different wiring and a sterling silver pig emblem.... Very 70's artsy fartsy.

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

Very unlike any guitars I have ever owned.....ha ha these aren't ml's or RR's lol!

Tomorrow I'll clean em up and set them up if I get time.

One of the kids in my guitar class just had his guitar stolen.... So... New strings and the acoustic may have already found a new home.

I can't get rid of the hag, because it belonged to my friends father... He was seriously almost in tears putting it in my truck... But the other stuff, who knows. Maybe I'll sell em and take my buddy some money!

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

Sorry to hear about your friend...

I'd try to hold onto all of them, just because.
Maybe let the kid "borrow" the Acoustic, might be a Sleeper.

Dig teh Peavey,too,just not a S/S/H guy.Synth could be neat,tho!
:D

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

I like the idea of selling some and giving him the cash. Man that would make his day.

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

the acoustic is nice
cant't wait to get your impression of the Peavey and Synth

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

I already donated the acoustic to the kid who had his stolen... I put new strings on it. The bridge has a crack in it... But it's still holding well enough.

I got to play the PV and synth in the living room for about 30 minutes, before my wife got all PO'd at me...

Guitar plays very comfortably, and this synth is a blast! Ha ha ha what fun! Maybe I'll skip work tomorrow and screw around with it all day long ha ha...
The only thing I don't like is the ssh doesn't leave any room for my pick..... Not used to that at all... But the kahler is pretty cool...

Those synths are fun but imo primitive compared to the graphtech ghost/axon or tripleplay.

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

yea I have been eyeing the newer version of the hex pickup
and of course the unit that goes with it

and the bass version also

those things just look like so much fun

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

Very cool. A buddy of mine had the top-of-the-line Destiny, nice guitar. The others look like fun, too.

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

I had a Roland GI20 with the GK3 pickup. Definitely a cool toy, but you learn real quick how sloppy you really are

Wish I'da kept them both, though :(

The GR1 is an older unit, but should be able to interface with newer PC-based sound packs like the East/West stuff in a DAW that supports it.

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

Sorry about your friend's rough go :(

Congrats on the guitars! Nice of you to pass along the donation to the kid

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

That old Hagstrom is cool! My dad had one of them when I was a kid.
I can picture him playing Beach Boys and Jan and Dean on it thru his Fender with the reverb cranked so high is was dripping reverb lol!
Thanks for the post! That is cool!

Re: Unexpected new guitar day X 4

I have another student who wants the bass.
I'm going to sell it to him for 100 bucks and I'm throwing in a practice bass amp I have sitting in my garage.

Wondering about selling the Peavey/Roland synth stuff all as one unit. Anyone want to give me an estimate as to what that's worth?
I played the guitar in and out of the synth for a couple hours last night. The guitar is actually a real player! Just 2 things that keep from keeping it for myself, 1. I hate strat shapes. 2. I hate the middle pickup in my way...too weird to adjust to that.

I imagine they would sell better separate, but the pickup thing has been screwed onto the guitar already.
