Unexpected NGD (Ibanez S content)

So I went in to Guitar Center yesterday for a new drum throne, but I always glance at the used wall, because sometimes you'll find a gem, or something that is at least much cheaper than it would normally be. Lo and behold...

I don't know what it is, but I have a thing for purple/blue transparent/quilted finish guitars, and I've been wanting an S series for awhile now. This baby is a S570DXQM sitting on the wall looking like no one has ever touched it for $370. Already a steal, sure, and then I find out it just has the OHSC with it.

They threw in a pair of strings for free out the door since the super bowl coupon doesn't work on used gear (grabbed a set of Elixirs since I've never tried em and I have plenty of others). Despite the size, being solid mahogany, this thing is rock solid and really feels like it has some weight (compared to my similarly sized swamp ash ESP). The stock pickups are decent, I've never had a problem with the Ibanez INF line, but what I'm really in love with is the ZR tremelo. It feels solid and so much nice than the Edge tremelos of Ibanez past that I've dealt with. All in all, it's a real player, an absolutely gorgeous to look at.

Beautiful! Really good score there. Nice deal that it included the case and tremolo, too. (I'm always amazed how many instruments in GC don't even have the trem still with them!) The S is a great guitar. Sounds awesome but doesn't weigh a ton.

Happy NGD!

We start with the fact that the Saber is perhaps Ibanez's most innovative body shape the last 20 or so years, add to that that it is in one HELL of a great color and you have yourself one really tasty guitar.

Enjoy her in good health man!!!

Re: Unexpected NGD (Ibanez S content)

I think I will make this my main E-Std. guitar, I haven't quite decided where it is best suited yet. To top it off, MJ just called and said my Fuglybuckers are ready, so I've got to find a place to put those - I wonder if this guitar is it? For reference before, my main 'go-to' guitar was my RG470 w/ Crunchlab/Liquifire combo. I've been really jonesing for an Alternate 8, but haven't pulled the trigger yet because of the incoming Fuglies. What do you guys think?

Very good deal and nice fingerboard inlays. 24 frets too! Most Ss have 22. Built in intonation tool was a good piece of thinking on Ibanez's part.

Fixed it for you ;).

Re: Unexpected NGD (Ibanez S content)

Thats so nice.I have a highly modified ibanez s mij there's pictures in my album if you would like to see. There a awesome guitar both the mij and korean versions are good. I haven't played the 24 fret version but i would like to.

I have actually just finished modifying a mates ibanez s with graphtech midi out. It was hard getting all the electronics in and doing the extra jack routing but it was well worth it the guitar is awesome with almost zero latency.

Re: Unexpected NGD (Ibanez S content)

I have a friend with an S series Ibanez, early '90s model. I was always impressed with it. It practically plays itself.

Congrats.
