Unexpected NGD (like I need another one...)

Re: Unexpected NGD (like I need another one...)

the p90 should be mid 50ies to beginning 60ies with black leads and a black grommet. These go 300 bucks a pop on reverb.com
Congrats nice find.

Sweet! Love the old caps and the way they "drilled" out the control cavity.

Btw, your daughter has that "I dare you to take this from me," look on her face. :D

Re: Unexpected NGD (like I need another one...)

Thanks guys for the replies. I have some penetrating oil I dropped into the oil holes, that seemed to loosen them up fine. The plan for the wiring is to just put it all back the way I found it. I MIGHT change the input jack, because this one's loose (and I have a whole bag of new ones) but other than that, I'm not changing anything. Just clean and re-assemble.

If you have metal polish, you can also use the rough side of a piece of leather.

Ok I got the frets all cleaned up. MAN they were gross!

I started with metal polish, which wasn't doing anything, and I ended up using one of my wife's Emery Boards (nail file), followed by super fine sandpaper and the metal polish. I think it turned out OK.

I still want to know what the neck came off of. The fret board appears to have some kind of (not well applied) finish on it, I couldn't get it smooth easily, and I don't want to have to sand it all flat... Although I have been thinking about taking the paint off the back of the neck and Tru Oiling it. The paint has those long cracks that old Poly gets. But I didn't want this to turn into a 2-year project...

So if I'm reading these pot codes right, what I'm looking at are Centralab 500k jobs from the 33rd week of 1959...
So legitimately old stuff. Cool!
