So I walked into my guitar center yesterday looking to get a clip on tuner. As usual I checked out their used guitars and ended up walking out with this


A 2008 Mim tele standard but it was a special edition cause it has an ash body instead of the usual alder. I could not put it down and loved how it played and sounded. I knew someone else would grab it so I got it. For $350 it was well worth it in my mind.

That is a beautiful guitar and an amazing price. now all you need to do is get the router out and pop an SSL-1 in the neck ;-)

Thanks Everyone! I even like the weird volume and tone knobs because it just looks right with the natural finish to me. I will add that when I started getting seriously interested in guitar and music in general, the tele was one of the first guitars I really liked and wanted. So to finally have one that I like just feels right.
I also got to try it through my rig today and it just sounds great. This will certainly be a keeper!

Congrats. Good price, too. That's a keeper. I really like ash. There's nothing like it for transparent finishes. Some of it is fairly light, too. I just put together an ash Jazzmaster that only weighed 4 lbs 2 oz. Although alder is no slouch for tone, I prefer ash (not trying to start a discussion on that, here).

Can't beat that. My last reservation about the MIMs was the fact that they used to have tiny "vintage" style frets, although the more recent ones have much larger frets.

I would have been disappointed if you hadn't pulled the trigger under those conditions and for that price.
