hi have a lp guitar seth lover seems to get good reviews,im after gary moore he used underwound from what ive read.when they say unpotted with they squeal with med over drive?have anyone used the eric steckel candy pickups?

Unless you are using a ton of preamp gain at high volume, unpotted pickups are fine. I prefer them- they seem to be more dynamic. If your style depends on dynamics, unpotted pickups are the way to go.

At med vol medium gain. Avoid playing were you are right ontop of your amp. Like in a cramped stage setting at stage Vol squeeling can be an issue. Used to have an old 70s DiMarzio Super like that.

Even on cramped stages, I never had a problem, and even at gig-level volume. I'd avoid it if I was a metal player, but outside of that, they are great.

high volume or high gain can be an issue with unpotted pups, but i seldom have an issue. i dont play with a ton of gain, but it sure aint clean, think cranked deluxe reverb. seths are great pups! im gonna play a guitar loaded with them at gig in a few hours

I take the covers off, put a thin bead of silicone across the slug coil, clamp the cover back on pretty snugly and solder in place. No squealing feedback, ever. Still the coils are not potted so they don't lose the sound like some wax potting can.
