UOA5 in 59N?

I don't remember anyone mentioning trying one in the 59n, but I am interested to know as well. It might get rid of the boomy bottom end that is an occasional complaint with the 59n.

Might be a little dark and boomy, but I'm just speculating and it's all relative anyway. Would work well in a bright guitar. Otherwise, it may sound great sunk down low. Try it!

i was gonna do it, but the magnets that blueman sent me (thanks for sending them mate! the a8's were fine) got broken by rough mail handling.
A2 sounds killer tho fwiw.

I've got UOA5's in '59B's, which are great. Fills in the mids and dials down the sharp, thin high end. While I haven't tried it yet, I think UOA5's would be better in a '59N than A2's, as they retain a little treble, and wouldn't have such a rounded top. More bite, cut, and definition.

I love the UOA5. It basically takes a regular A5 and pushes it one step in the vintage direction....perhaps like a slightly degaussed A5?

good timing. I just put one in last weekend

so far its good . pretty similar to the std A5. a little less sharp . a touch more mids. not night and day . just a fine tune

I actually find it less boomy than the A5 . maybe cause theres a little more mids its more filled out and seems that way

I havent tried it in the studio for reals in the band yet. sunday I will be

Right, less boomy, more mids for a bigger sound, and more dynamics. Not bad. Hmmm...

UOA5 is the only way to have a 59n. Smoother, warmer, more mids, less shrill high-end, less boomy than the stock 59 with A5. Still retains it's openness and articulation and clarity. Sounds more "aged"/vintage, if that makes any sense.

While not at 59n, I recently put a UOA5 in my Burstbucker Pro neck. It rounded the top end out- similar to an A2 and fattened up the mids. I love the tonal difference. Has the classic Les Paul neck tone now.

Where can one get a UOA5 mag? could not find one at addiction fx which is where ive gotten mags before

I have an UOA5 in my LP '59 neck - really great. It really smoothes out the A5. Agree with Doc +1!

All of this. Rather than being darker as one would expect, it got clearer, probably due to the midrange presence increase. FWIW, I think the middle position really shines with an UOA5 in the bridge, too.....
