Fully magnetized. Unless it's magnetized, it is just a piece of metal (not a magnet).

They normally come rough cast, but I have seen polished. I would expect that you would have to specifically order polished.

UOA5 really worked out for me in the neck, mainly because I have a 24 fretter, which seemed to enhance the brightness of the already bright stock 59. The UOA5 sounds much smoother, took some of the squeaky chirpy brights away but it still sounds pretty clear.

I've got my first Les Paul copy coming this Friday and I'm looking for a good match with a UOA5 C/59 hybrid. I love the Mean 90 in the neck of my SG but wanted to do something different with this LP.

In search of a nice compromise between chimey cleans and sizzling leads like I can get out of the Mean 90, I ordered both an A4 and a UOA5 to test out in the 59. Think I'll give the UOA5 a go first.
