UOA5 rough cast

Soooo...after installing a 59 in the neck of my Charvel and having a DiMarzio DP103 in the neck of my Shark. And 490r in both my SGs.
I began A/B/C ing them and I honestly like the sounds of the A5(pafs) and the A2(490).
So upon research and a few youtube vids was wondering what might be 1/2 way between and it looks like the UOA5 is it....I guess. So I ordered 2 tonight rough cast ones.
Im gonna rip into my Red SG and try swapping thier A2s for the UOA5.
Anyone ever done that on 490r and t set???? Ive never done any magnet swaps befor.
Was the rough cast the best call ya think?
I like the clarity of the A5s in my other pups. But there is a smoothness and chirpy treble I love about my 490s.

Roughcast magnets have a different midrange than smooth ones. I've never tried an A2, though, only A5 in a 59/Custom Hybrid, which seems to have shifted the middle frequencies a tad bit lower. Whatever it is, I like it.

I guess Ill find out. I like my red SG less than my brown one. So im gonna expierament with that one. If I find a combo I like Maybe Ill do both SGs...or have two different sounds....or hem and haw and moan and groan on here and still never touch the brown one cause its my fav axe and i hate messing with it lol

I did maybe 50 swaps in the last 20 years. I also have a stash of 20 additional magnets. Yes, a also did swap the A2 in a 490r for a A5. Improved it really, but still a bit congested, not as open as a Jazz. The UOA5 are still my fave magnet for a stronger PAFs like an Ant Bridge. But my fave neck mag is the A3, but it does not work in every neck, so I have some A4 which do the trick in some higher wound neck pads.

So you think an A4 might be a better choice in the neck?

I feel like I'm the one member here who is not a fan of A4. In the neck, RCA3 in my 59 really did the trick, and I liked it much better than the A4, which I found anemic and completely lacking character.

Rough A3?
It sucks my SG is batwing and requires a crap ton of work( vs regular pickup rings) or Id buy an assortment of mags and just try a bunch.
