Upcoming NPD review posts!!!

So I have been on a bit of a pedal binge. Just happened to trip across a few choice buys. So here is what is coming up:

I'm gonna do a review / shootout on all of the following in some way shape or form:



One is gonna be just a basic review of the H2O V2 as a warmup for the others. I like the V2 as a "middle" ground between the spartan V1 and the excessive (for me) V3.

Then, I finally found a Suhr Riot good enough / cheap enough so I'm going to run that against the US Dream and a Mooer Solo. All solid contenders - but you decide.

Finally, a couple of under-rated Boss rarities: A Boss Super Distortion & feedback and Digital Metalizer. Both awesome fun cool Boss offerings.

Just for giggles I might do a Digital Metalizer vs Riot & H2O - haha!

I'm wondering about the MZ-2. I've never played, or even heard one, but it sure looks interesting.

I think the riot is a "Can't Miss" pedal in general. The question is is it worth more than the US Dream or Solo to YOU?

I used a Super Feedbacker for years...dialed in right, it is difficult to tell that it isn't genuine feedback. You'd think this sort of pedal would be more popular.

Maybe another Boss pedal ahead of it’s time. I see a decent amout of Digitech FreqOuts recently.

I wil be curious to hear your Riot vs US Dream. I had a US Dream and right now I have a Riot clone that a guy made for me and it does not sound much like the Joyo at all. I dunno if that is true for the real thing or if my "clone" is more like a cousin.

Those Visual Sound/Trutone pedals are the ugliest pedals ever.... haha I applaud them for their bold attempt at making something so gross looking.

In my experience, their pedals sound fine -.....just ugly.

So, I just got done an initial test drive of the Digital Metalizer. OMG - this thing is awesome! I think if they had came out with it a year or two earlier it would have been huge. I could almost my band's entire set list with like 3 of these and a DD-3!

For those who remember/were in the 80's metal sound thread - this thing is about 4 or 5 of those incarnate! As Boss Distortions go - pretty decent.

Cool finds. The H2O is a fantastic pedal. It’s about perfect in the effects loop.

I used to have a Digital Metalizer back in the 80’s. It’s a cool pedal for sure. I don’t see many for sale anymore.

Yeah those are great pedals! The distortion alone sounds great, much better than the Metal Zone (IMHO) and the digital effects are a bonus.

I agree completely. I ran mine in to the clean channel of a Peavey Bandit 75. Sounded way better than the amp's overdrive channel. One thing I remember with it was that it must be run with the PSA-120T power adapter. It ate through batteries like crazy.

IMO, the MZ-2 kills the DS-1 when used in a clean channel. The DS-1 is better pushing a slightly broken up sound, to my ears anyway.

These days I don't have any pedals out front other than a crybaby and the amp footswitch. The 2 pedals I wouldn't mind having again though are the MZ-2 and the SD-2, even if I didn't use them in the live rig.
