A while back I had posted some questions about my new SD pickups I was putting in my Washburn. I had purchased the pickups from Musicians Friend from their "scratch and dent" listing which saved me about $15 over their normal price.
Unfortunately, the leads on the Jazz (neck) pickup were cut short (by the previous owner) and wouldn't reach the pots. So I tried splicing the leads into the leads from the old pickups. I'm not sure if this was the problem or if the pickup was actually damaged - but I wasn't able to get any good tone from that pickup.
You guys were very helpful with the diagnosis and encouraging... but I finally gave up...
So, in frustration, I called Musicians Friend and explained what had happened. Basically, I wanted them to let me return the pickup even though they have a no return policy on pickups. I told them I really wanted the Jazz pickup and was willing to spend the extra $15 to get it. They said no problem and gave me the return authorization.
Well, not only did they let me return the pickup, but when I saw my credit card statement, they charged me the reduced amount for the brand new pickup. Kudos to Musicians Friend! I just had to say that because they get slammed around here so much. I'm not really a big fan of theirs either, but this time they came through for me (your actual mileage may vary)
Anyway, after being out of the country and busy with other stuff, I finally got around to installing the pickup the other day. It sounds great!
And now that I seem to have gotten my amp fixed (see related thread) I am back in business.
Thanks again for all your help,
Rick
