Update on my recent Acoustic acqusition !

I had posted this over a week ago wanting to know if anybody had any info concerning this model which is a Fender DG-20S Acoustic. Well , Fender finally got back to me and here is what I found out ,

They were made from 1995 -2005 .
The retail price was originally $425.99 with a later reduction down to $399.99.
It has a solid Spruce top w/ Mahoghany back & sides along with a Nato neck & 20 frets w/ a Rose wood fretboard.
The tuners are stock Fenders while the nut and bridge are artificial Bone.

These are IMO, much better than any of today's Chinese made Fender Acoustic product which they have out. You can usually find one used, depending on condition, for around the $150 - $300.00 range. Mine is a 1999 Korean made one and I love it. It has a great sound to it with plenty of sustain. Definitely a keeper. I also went and bought a new pickguard for it ,which only sent me back a couple of bucks on E-Bay. Looks much better with one on it, don't you think ?

Similar formula to my 2001 Martin DM. (The "mahogany" and "rosewood" probably aren't.)

After eighteen months of partial satisfaction a with Fishman Rare Earth Blend mag/mic pickup system, I took a punt on a pre-owned L. R. Baggs Anthem SL. Turned out to be exactly what that particular guitar needed. It compensates for the guitar's laminate back and sides.

IMO, drawing comparisons between a fifteen year old Korean guitar and a brand new Chinese one is unfair - if only for age difference reasons. Any acoustic guitar built from halfway decent materials should improve with time.

I've tried out some of the Chinese made Acoustic Fenders at GC and IMO, they just don't sound as good as my DG-20S. Maybe I'm being a bit biased here, but I stand by what I say.
