Upgrade for Destroyer

I recently picked an Ibanez Destroyer so next step is too get a Duncan in the bridge. I usually go straight to the DD or JB(which i am going to try) but this time i was thinking to try something else. I was after something with a lot of treble bite & am looking for suggestions.
Was leaning towards the Screaming Demon or Custom Custom, any thought on those.

The guitar is Mahogany & i play thrash metal. Thanks.

I hear ya.....but I feel confident that you won't end up being satisfied with something else.


Only other thing I would recommend would be an Invader with hex poles or a Custom with a large ceramic mag.

I'm gonna try a 500T/498T hybrid with an A8 in mine first, but it's not mahogany and will have a maple fretboard.

Mahogany + DD = thrash.

I had the Demom with a UOA5 mag in a mahogany and alder super Strat . It had its moments but even with the UOA5 it was brighter than the DD,JB ,Custom,PG and 78 (all pickups I've tinkered with in the last few years) and it was kinda thin sounding , lacked the thickness and punch of say the DD or Custom. I know everybody always recommends the A8 but maybe a JB8 or C8 would do the trick

IME, my JB8 is too "thick" for thrash. Not enough top end "bite" either.
But I play in D and Drop C.

I'm actually contemplating putting in hex poles to see if it gives it more attack.

Still my fav pickup ever tho :cool2:

You bring up a good point , I haven't used an A8 mag in years but I've heard it shaves off some treble bite.

I have a demon in a Destroyer and I love it, but it would not be my choice for thrash.

You might want to look at the Gibson 500T. Played a Gibson Explorer in which it comes stock and it screamed through a Marshall with nice bite!
