Upgraded my Yamaha Pacifica 604W

[T-Bone-BBQ]

Replaced the stock pickups with a Crunch Lab in the bridge, Chopper in the middle and a Satch Track in the neck. I also replaced the cheaper 5 way switch and added a treble bleed. I'll end up replacing the volume and tone knobs with black ones just for the looks and I may end up wiring the push/push tone pot as a series/parallel switch.

I got this used for around $125 I think. Got the pickups used also. So now for just a little over $200 I have a guitar that plays and now sounds amazing.

Very cool!! Looks great!!

I was looking at getting a new Ibanez SA guitar when they come out as a project guitar. How hot are those single coils? I had an EBMM JP6 many moons ago and loved the Crunch Lab for the bridge pup, but don't know much about hotter single coils.

The Chopper and Satch Track are hotter which is why I'm thinking of wiring the push push tone pot to put both in parallel.

Seems to do well. I did lower the CL a bit to balance the output.

Sweet jeebus that must be a player! Had a 721 that was extremely similar. I went PAF Pro bridge, and stock singles (Which I SWEAR were identical to some DiMarzios I had seen...)


One of a very few necks I regret getting rid of.

Oh yeah it plays great. A little fret wear, but nothing bad. Really nice neck shape and the Wilky is fantastic.

The ‘w’ in 604w indicates it came standard with the Wilkinson term, it also should have Sperzel locking tuners too.

I bought it used and someone replaced the Sperzel tuners with some Grover tuners. Still stays in tune good, but I wish it had the Sperzels.

You're probably better off. Sperzel locking tuners are pretty disappointing IMO
