Re: Upgraded my Yamaha Pacifica 604W
In the case of the LTD DV-8 I had a problem where after about a year or two, some of them would fail to unlock and I'd have to stick a really small screwdriver in there and force it open to get the string out of there. I just stopped bothering to lock them after a while. This was about 12 years ago so my memory is a bit hazy on it.
The LTD Axxion I owned they worked fine afaik, also 12 years ago but I believe I never had a problem.
All 3 of the Jacksons I've owned with them have had the problem where the thumbscrew falls off pretty easily, which gets annoying. And, sometimes they're hard to get them locked again when you change strings. Its like you have to apply upward pressure to get it to catch. I've also noticed they feel pretty gross and "notchy" (don't know a better word for it) on the turning action. Like there's no lube or something.
They stay in tune really really well, the finish is really nice on them, but I'd still say they're disappointing for the price you pay. I still own 2 Jacksons with them and I'm actually considering putting the stock Jackson tuners back on both of em'. My "main" Jackson is a Kelly Pro with the stock Jackson tuners and I can honestly say I prefer them to my sperzels

Yeah, I've had 5 guitars with them, 2 of which I still own.Really? I've never had a problem with them. You had issues?
