I've never kept the stock pups in a guitar that I've owned. They have all gone under the knife and most have come out better than they were before. Others probably should have been left alone.
If you are happy with your sound, leave it alone. The other folks advice about getting a good amp is spot on. The perfect pickups in your guitar will still sound like crap running through a poopy amp. Get the amp that has the sound you want and then go for changing the pickups if that guitar sound doesn't make you happy.
