Hi. I would like to change out the stock carvin humbuckers (basic neck, SD bridge) Especially the nasally bridge pup. The guitar has an alder body with quilted maple top, maple neck with ebony fretboard, dual coil splits and a phase switch. It has passive electronics not the carvin active setup. It plays
beautifully but needs better tone. Tend to use it for heavier or more agressive songs but versatility is important for this guitar

My band plays a mix of classic rock, modern rock, tex-mex, southern rock,
blues, hard rock, power-pop and country. I handle most of the lead chores.

My other primary axe is an american tele deluxe
Amp is a fender hot rod 40w

Dude, can you do me a huge favor???

Look at the lead off your Carvin's bridge pickup, and tell me which color is going where.

BTW, for Duncans, I'd recommend a Custom/'59 setup.

jb, it's black to coil split (one end)
white to coil split (same side, other end)
red to phase switch
gray to multiple connections (ground, I guess)

Pretty complex wiring to add coil splits and phase switch.
I don't even use them that much. :smack:

Hey there

It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I just bought a Carvin C66 and I am wanting to chnage the PUs too. I've finally decided on going with a Ducan JB bridge and a 59 neck. I am probably going to have to knock the volume and tone pots down to 250k as well. Like yours, my guitar is alder with a maple cap..maple neck and ebony fretboard. VERY bright guitar. The JB with 500k I hear is too bright for this...but at 250k I hear it has good tone for the body woods we have. My JB is in the mail and will be here tomorrow. Soon as I get it in and tested, I'll let you know the results.

I have the C22 bridge and the horrid H22 neck PUs from Carvin. I really really hope the Ducans help us out. I've always wanted to play a DC135. I bet it's smooth as butter.

I have an all maple DC-127T with a Pearly Gates bridge pickup in the neck and a Custom Custom bridge. I'm doing fine with 500K pots.

Since you have less maple than I do, I bet you'd be happy with a Pearly Gates at the neck and a Custom at the bridge.

Thanks clovis, let me know how it turns out.
My friend has a DC135. It feels just like mine but with a bucker and 2 singles.
I played it a couple hours before I got mine. It was great, I loved the neck feel. I'm happy quite happy with mine, had it about 3 years now. Also play a Tele and an old LP copy (It has 23 year old Duncans and sounds pretty good)

I have a Dc127 mahogany with maple cap and I love the H22 in the bridge and don't really like the H22 in the neck. Check this site http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=316268

I play rhythm on all songs and used that guitar to record these.
Check out Cheap Sunglasses, it gives a good idea of how the PU sounds dirty. Hope this helps! Mike

Do I have to file the body roots? Or it will fit normally?

I had to grind the corners off the ears of my CC trembucker to get it to fit into the cavity. I needed no modifications to install the neck pickup.
