Re: Used PRS Core McCarty or new Kiesel CT6?

Weather cleared up for a few more pictures outside. Here are the good ones.

Enjoy!

beautiful guitar man! if it sounds and plays half as good as it looks, its a keeper

It does, plays like butter and sounds incredible. Honestly, now that I've had a few days to play it and learn its quirks, I'm liking it more and more.

The 58/15 LT’s in the 594’s are great pickups, I would say much better than anything Gibson makes, and probably better than all but the custom shop Duncan’s. They are only 7.6-7.7kish output but still sound thick enough in the bridge and very clear in the neck.

Spend the time dialing in the pickup heights, I found the bridge needs to be much higher than the neck to balance the output. The neck split sound though is really good, maybe not strat clear but really nice. I was planning on tearing a set out too, until I really gave them a chance.

If you add a boost in front of an amp you can get the gain up to hot output levels, but they still have so much clarity. Even without the boost they cut through pretty well and don’t get buried in the mix.

Anyway that’s a great choice for a guitar, I hope you enjoy it. If more people tried the PRS 594’s they would see what they are missing out on.

Re: Used PRS Core McCarty or new Kiesel CT6?

I would personally prefer the PRS Mc Carthy. I like its design (including the wrap around bridge). And the one in the pic looks gorgeous.
I also like that kind of semi-hollow with one F (I have a baritone PRS like that but MIK).

But to be honest I never played a Kiesel.

Anyway if you have the choice between a great second hand guitar and a new and a new item for the same price price I would go for the old one. But fret wear (and re-fret price) has to be taken into consideration.

The guitar is in great condition. The only thing wrong with it was a small ding on the neck, but that was it; nothing to fret over. The previous owner did not seem to play it much, so virtually no fretware too.

Feel free to post more pics at all kinds of angles, too. That is about my dream PRS right there.

Ask and you shall receive! Here you go.
These pictures were taken later in the day compared to the earlier pictures, so the sun was lower. Some of these were also taken much lower to the ground, close to level with the guitar looking more up.

More of the carved top with the shadow on the left.

This is the only ding I found on the entire guitar.

Better view of the whole back, you can still see the ding, but you have to look somewhat closely for it.

I hope it stays that color...sometimes blue dyes can suffer from 'dye fade' over 10+ years. PRS seems to hold up better than some of the other brands with a deep blue dye. Really looks wonderful.

Thank you!

I did not know that about blue dyes though and will keep that in mind in case it gets to the point where it needs to be refinished. Either way, that is a long time away, so I'm not too worried about it.

Wrong on the PRS Blue dye holding up well it's actually one of the worst to fade. Have seen older Whale Blue PRS guitars that came in the Pawn Shops and were nearly gray more like a faded denim finish so would try to limit UV exposure with that one by keeping it in the case when I could.
Have a Royal Blue 07 Custom 24 BTW so---.
This is mine.

oh man
could you will that to me when you go?

My plan is to do exactly that. Plan is that, while it is a primary instrument along with my Strat, anytime I'm not playing, it goes in its case. However, I'm leaving the case out and easy to access instead of stuffing it in a corner where it isn't easy to access. I do that with my other guitars that I bring out if I need a specific sound that I can't do justice on with the other two main guitars, such as my Telecaster.
