Using an A/B Box on a 2-channel amp?

I have a plexi re-issue with 2 channels, each with its own volume control, but the problem is that the amp has no channel switching capability. I was thinking of getting an A/B box (Switchbone), running one of its outputs into Channel A and the second output into Channel B. This would theoretically make channel switching possible on my amp (and allow for a clean/dirty configuration), but will this work properly using this technique? Any thoughts?

It usually works. My Hi/Lo input Laney however accepts only one (hi) input jack and automatically mutes the other. wtf...?!?
