Using dupont connectors

Hi im thinking of using dupont connectors to connect my pickups.
See photo for type of connector


Roughly halfway up the length of cable required to connect the pickup to the switching. To keep the custom wiring but to swap pickups with ease.

Would this be ok to do or would i get alot of feedback etc from having the cable stripped, a switch put in then continue on? Or would it be fine??

Thought and reccomendations please. Much thanks.

I've done this before, using 5 circuit latching connectors, no audible problems. I would do it at the end of the pickup's original lead, though, and have all the connections in the control cavity.

I'm working up the courage to pull out the controls on my new ES-335 (for upgrade). When I get around to it, I plan on using the micro plugs on the pickup leads. Since 335's don't have easy access to the "control cavity", this would be a godsend for pickup swaps.

I'd do the smaller individual plugs, that way you can work with various wiring mods more easily, like parallel, coil swap, etc.

Of course you'd have to rig up switches with the receiving pins, but I think it'd be worth it if you do a lot of experimenting.

I did this with a hollow body guitar. Considering the effort it takes to solder everything up on those style of guitars, it was very convenient for pickup swaps. I used plugs like the ones that If6Was9 linked to. They make a very strong, secure connection; I had no concerns of them coming apart from moving around and there were no audible changes/problems associated with them.
