I have the basic 100 dollar one. Though people say's it make's it more brighter and everything. I find it to add noise , and overdistorted thickness

or maybe its my crappy settings

Re: Using the BBE SOnic Maximizer

I've used the BBE on many occasions, and while it can add noise if the gain is too high, I don't find it to be a noisy unit in and of itself ...

Re: Using the BBE SOnic Maximizer

I have the BBE 482 and don't find it to be noisy although I do use a noise gate. I find that I just seems to add a bit more punch at my tone. The Lo contour is set at 5.5 and the process at 4.5 for my rig.

Use it at the lowest settings. Subtletely.

Re: Using the BBE SOnic Maximizer

I hated it in my rack. It created a really weird effect on the low strings and it just sounded strange. I didn't spend much time tweaking it since I bought it to use on the final mix of songs- it works great for that!

Re: Using the BBE SOnic Maximizer

I used one in a rack for years and with differant racks as well. In the end I just plain junked it. it messed up the amp clip and made the gain sound brittle or way to sharp and squeely. the only way i could stand it was on its lowest settings and then it made little differance except to mess with the tone even more as it traveled thru the unit back into my amp. In the end, any good fx box usually has its own onboard inhancer that usually works better with its own fx and is midi controllable at the same time.-thats just my own experiance :beerchug:
