V Guitars

i would like to get another guitar sometime and i'm thinking about getting v style
but the thing is i don't like trem systems.

i like mustaine style v guitars like the ESP LTD V-500 and the VMNT
because they are string thru body which should translate into better tone
i had high hopes for the VMNT i really like the look but i heard some people
say deans have smaller frets and the playability sucks

i guess the ESP LTD V-500 is my best bet then?

Re: V Guitars

nope i hate the gibson flying v

GASP! well since you hate the flagship of v guitars why not a hard tail jackson rhodes v? i know some of their models come with TOM bridges and seymour duncan pups. they sound pretty **** nice....but still the gibby V is like....THE ONE

Re: V Guitars

I've played several import VMNTs and thought they were very decent guitars overall. Try it out yourself. Dont listen to Joe Smoe's opinions ALL the time. Look on Evilbay for Music City they are a great place to get them and are right here were I'm at. I would be happy to check one out for you if you like.

Re: V Guitars

I have a Dean V and the frets are not tiny, but they are not jumbo either, but the thing has a ripping fast neck!

Re: V Guitars

Jackson has a custom shop. :D

Seriously, though, they've got some nice offerings in the V style.

Re: V Guitars

Someone mention Dean Import V?

While these Czech made Vs are not made anymore they do pop up every now and then. Maybe not as loved as this one has been but..... :notworthy

Anyways, there are some good guitars in the Dean '79 series Imports from Korea. Good luck in your search.

Re: V Guitars

Re: V Guitars

it's just a stock dean humbucker -- they're really not bad pickups. Probably in the same ballpark as a stock Fender or Epi humbucker -- not great but workable until you figure out what you'd prefer.

Re: V Guitars

Actually IIRC, he did swap a pickup in to that White Gold. I could be wrong but I thought I remembered reading that here. Those White Gold Vs are nice Korean made guitars. The Black Gold Dean V is real nice too.

Re: V Guitars

Hey all! Yeah, its the White Gold model. It is VERY similar visually to the Rik Emmitt model but a whole lot less $$. The knob I put on is the same as the Rik E. I wasnt trying to copy that model, I just prefer the look of the knob. I took the cover off the pickup. It is a great guitar and the price is very reasonable.

Here is the stock look.

Also, the stock pickup is pretty good tonally. Its just alittle softer in volume than the rest of my guits, which all have dif pups.. I changed the pup only out of preference, not necessity
