I really don't notice the chirp. I've used Tortex, Ultex and Gators in 1.14 mm for years and they're still my go-to picks, but I have a collection of V-Picks. Some of the thicker picks are nice to practice with, but the Screamer, Tradition, Traditon Lite and the Red Rocker in particular are great. I like the grip. I did an acoustic gig last summer, and the Red Rockers were wonderful in the heat. If you drop picks these are a godsend, and produce a strong, solid tone.

Question.. Do you use the pickups with the unbuffed edge?? I just got a couple in the mail yesterday and I tried the ones with the unbuffed edge. I notice the chirp with those, never really did with the smooth edged ones..

I think that the chirp is a function of the pick material's mass, rigidity, and hardness more than edge smoothness. I think that chirp is a result of the string coming into contact with the pick in a way that's like fretting a harmonic. A Fender medium doesn't do that because it has more "give" so the string is more effectively damped as the pick moves more with the string.

Yes I believe it is the material as well, and I only get the chirp when plucking a string that is already ringing. That's why I'm curious about the different material of the pearly gates..
