V players, need your input please..

Ive had V's and since they are awkward to play sitting, (yes I put mine on the inside of my leg) I have invented something for that. I have a patent pending on the idea and before I order any materials to make em, I want to know if it would be worth it.

My invention is non permanent, non marking, removes in a second, and easy to use. It allows you to play a v sitting with the guitar in a normal position and feels (to the leg) about like you are playing an accoustic.

Would anyone be interested? What would it be worth to you? Thanks

Re: V players, need your input please..

I don't own a v, but I would still want to see pics or schematics before I say anything.

Re: V players, need your input please..

Wouldn't that problem be solved with a guitar strap adjusted to hold the guitar at beer gut height?

Re: V players, need your input please..

I would be interested if the unit price was low enough and if I could get it on and off quick enough. Say sub 20 bucks and i would pick one up. For me the issue isnt huge I play my V's fine enough but it would be worth while to have around for those moments that I felt the need.

Re: V players, need your input please..

Patents almost certainly already exist for electric guitar leg rest devices. Make sure that your idea does not fall foul of the descriptions that anyone else has registered.

Re: V players, need your input please..

I usually sit with the bottom wing resting against my "picking leg", but that leg is shifted back, under the chair. Granted, this doesn't work if you're sitting on a stool, so I could see the benefit of such a device.

However, I do believe someone on Ebay already has such a device. It's kind of curved so it fits over your "fretting leg". You're still holding it between your legs, from what I can tell, but I'm not sure if it's adjustable to allow resting it on your "picking leg". Even so, the upper wing would be under your armpit.

Just my observation.

Re: V players, need your input please..

i would check it out, but generally i don't mind resting my right leg between the wings.

Re: V players, need your input please..

Sounds very interesting

It reminds me of the Steinberger rest but I really like the removable idea of yours.

Good luck

Re: V players, need your input please..

I'm assuming this is a padded, clamp-on, arched leg rest that you're talking about – pretty much like a chin rest on a violin. That's cool, and I love designing ****, but I would not buy one. Too much muss/fuss/rigmarole just to sit and play the guitar. I find Vs incredibly easy to play, unless you are sitting in bed. If anything, they encourage "better" technique when sitting.

i have 3 Vs, one of which has the steinberger leg rest on it. I barely use that. I find Vs very comfy to play sitting down, and stand 90% of the time I'm playing them. Personally i'm not interested, but i wish you luck.

Re: V players, need your input please..

I heard the v was designed specifically so that a guitar stand would never be needed. You can just plop it up on the wall.

Re: V players, need your input please..

I find my V's very comfy sitting, perhaps even more than a traditional shape as I can angle it up more. No market for me, sorry.

Re: V players, need your input please..

There are already many detachable style leg rests like you are describing. I personally like the Steinberger style, I just wish they sold those. Cant find them anywhere.

Re: V players, need your input please..

Is it a sticky silver substance? Can't patent duct tape. Just being an a hole... Sorry. Seriously, good luck. I hope it works for you.

Re: V players, need your input please..

It sounds like a nice idea, and it's probably just the thing for some players. I like the things that make a V different, so I like holding it differently -- including the way I can wrap my leg around the one horn.

Re: V players, need your input please..

Depending on your design, it may have already been invented.
