V2

I've bought two V2 Gibson Flying V2 pick-ups.

They measure out around 11.5K .

Anyone familiar with these ?

The numbers seem '80s 'Hot' > is this a better neck pick-up than
bridge ?

Looking for a phatter Single Coil sound with an 'edgeyness' - how is the overtone series : muted / mudd / sings / mids / shrieks / harmonics ?

Thinking of using a Firebird Bridge pick-up with this 'Boomerang' in the Neck
to off-set the flavor..................

Any Pot numbers recommended ?

Thanks in Advance @~~!

Re: V2

welcome to the forum!!

11.5k is either a very hot neck pup or a medium output bridge pup. any idea what magnet is in there? im not familiar with the gibson v2. what guitar is this going in?

~~! Hey Thanks !

"1982 V2 : the first batches came with boomerang shaped PU's. It is not clear if they are single coils or mini humbuckers although the timbre and output suggest single coils but they are composed of 2 coils in a chevron disposition."

"Several players said they don't like the sound of the Boomerang pickups and some mention the weight of the guitars. For the player grade V2 guitars, install a Seymore Duncan stacked humbucker inside the heart-shaped pickup cover and the tone should sound more contemporary."

( heart shaped ? )

This is 'The Most' info. on the .net >

considering the construction , 'what' could be done ?

Has there been anything developed to give the player the ability to
have a 'pressure sensitive' pick-up response ?

Popping harmonics out of a one dimensional response pick-up leaves me
wondering if some 'thing' might exist .

I'll build ( read, pick parts out .. ) the guitar > a 'Thin-Line' with chambered
'Wings' > 'neck-thru' with NOVAK fanned fretboard.

Re: V2

Also... an American Graffiti reference eh? Nice... Though i personally think Harrison Ford's 55 Chevy would have won:D
