I was playing on my buddies rg on his neck pickup it said V7, and no it was not a seven string guitar. Does anybody know what V7 pickups are?

OK, i'm stupid i just figured out what they were sorry about that. I'd erase this post but i dont know how

Re: V7 pickups?

How does that V7 sound? I (briefly) took the v2's out of my PS-10 to try Seths but put the V2's back. The V2's just sound right for that guitar.

Re: V7 pickups?

the v7 sounds better than the v8 IMO
but both dont compare to aftermarket pickups

i used a v7 in the neck of my rg470 for ages - it does its job well :D

Re: V7 pickups?

The V series aren't bad, IMO. Not equal to the F series made by DiMarzio, but not bad for stock imports.

+1

I swapped out the V8 for an invader, but kept the V7, i dont use the neck much but it does the job well enough for me, an aftermarket pickup would probably be a better option, but i don't use it enough to justify the cost at the moment.

Re: V7 pickups?

i really dont like the v7
i havent played the rg470 that a mate of mine has cos .. well, you all know how i stand in terms with ibanez. and it had no character to my ears.. better than the powersounds though LOL

Re: V7 pickups?

I played the V7 for some jazz music and it sounded suprisingly good its really smooth, as far as the v2 i thought it sounded like ass

Re: V7 pickups?

The Ibanez V7 & V8 aren't the worst things ever, but they're not that great either. If you can't afford new pickups, they'll do the job, but I'd still replace them.

Re: V7 pickups?

I hate Ibanez Pickups. I have never played an Ibanez pickup that did not HOWL like a single coil under extreme gain

According to Ibanez, the V7 neck humbucker has a ceramic magnet. That may be helpful info. As for the V2 compared to the JB, they are comparable in output (16k for the V2) but the low end of the V2 is bigger and looser. The mids are pulled back compared to the JB and the JB is brighter on top. The V2 sounds fairly good for a stocker, but I like the JB better overall. I swapped them out in my Ibanez RG550.

I just can remember JB has more clarity and is tighter. Like i put a small towel away from the cab.... dunno about the voicing but i think what
Rebel has said is right
