Vai's rhythm sound on "Sex and Religion" title track

I was listeningto this in my car and for some reason my ear's picking up something about the main rhythm guitar tone in the song (what's in the first 2 bars of the intro) that seems unusual. It's not a weird chord voicing, it's something in the guitar tone.

I'm curious how he got that sound. Anyone got any insight?

I have not heard that track... but guessing could it be his Harmonizer?

Definitely the fact that Devin Townsend sang on that record - he makes everything sound good. :D

I think its due to the use of neon colors on the pickups bobbins,most likely green
but I could be wrong
