Vanity Guitars

Re: Vanity Guitars

This whole debacle sounds like a GREAT excuse to go shopping for another guitar… You know, one that fits the case!

I know right
I have been looking for either a softer angle
Or shorter shape
Or maybe a combination of both

Maybe a snakehead

Re: Vanity Guitars

Yeah, that sucks. Hopefully your new case will be the right one.
Than maybe either try to sell this one (I know you customized the stencil) or find a straight headstock guitar for it.

Acetone will probably remove the stencil

There is a local shop gonna make me a one time use vinyl stencil
For about $5

She said just stick it on
Peel off the lettering
And spray it

Should work

New case comes in Wednesday

Re: Vanity Guitars

Really
Do they have either
A. A shorter headstock than my Gibson S series
B. A softer angle than any of my other guitars

I'm game

I haven’t measured but I’m relatively certain that my LP Standard and my LP Special have the same break angle.

This is my Special. The Standard is downstairs and I’m to lazy to go down. Sorry. Lol

Re: Vanity Guitars

Well I tried my Gibson Custom Studio and while it was the closest to fitting
It still rested on the headstock

I may not have to shim it as much
I'm gonna see if I can get an Eastman or something

Ooooorrrrrrrr

Another custom order case-fit guitar

Re: Vanity Guitars

New case came in
It's a Crossrock ABS in blue

Got shoulder straps and all.

And most importantly, the Ehdwuld fits

Too late today to swing by the print shop
Girl is gonna make me a reverse vinyl image
And I'll spray it here tomorrow

I'll post

Oh and its $5 for the vinyl stencil

Re: Vanity Guitars

Ok so the girl made me a vinyl stencil sandwich
And I stuck it down, it didn't peel back as smooth as she said

One of the centers for the "d" came out

We got it back in

Masked off
No spray paint in White
But a local artist stopped by with her acrylics

Re: Vanity Guitars

The acrylic paint peels straight the fk off with the stencil

It's a do over

This time I'm gonna get plastic bonding spray paint

Vanity Guitars

Bummer, but not surprising. Those artist acrylics really don’t have much in the way of the ability to bond to slick surfaces. Even though there’s a texture there, the underlying surface is still too hard and smooth for that type of paint to get a good bite on it. One of the aerosols made for sticking to plastic should be good otherwise if you were going to paint it by hand you would want to get some type of a good bonding primer like XIM UMA to put on there first.

Next time you have to paint something odd (or anything at all), just shoot me a PM. I’ve been selling paints and coatings for almost 30 years and I can make sure you get going in the right direction.

Edit: that goes for any of you guys, by the way.

You da man Bri

I had planned on spraying it
I only had satin black, baby blue, crimson red, and clear lacquer

I didn't even think a out it when my daughter offered
I was just ok
Cool

Re: Vanity Guitars

I have one of those Crossrock cases. Damn fine case I figure.
Edwuld, the name to which nothing sticks.

Re: Vanity Guitars

Ok round two
What color ? White white gloss or off white semigloss

I want off white semigloss

I think I put too much paint on too quickly

Oh and this is a 4 inch letter rather than a 3 inch

It's still drying on the counter

Did I mention I put too much paint on
