vapor trail acting up

nearly new pedal and all the sudden it acts like a volume booster when clicked on. big change in volume when activated. new battery made no difference. it does the same on the board's power supply

any ideas?

The Mix should add a little extra volume but not too much.

i dont think there is a trim pot, but i could be wrong. i have two vapor trails, one older style, one newer, and dont have this issue. playing into a clean amp in front or in the loop or ?
