Velcro won't stick to Line 6 Verbzilla!

What to do? I want to add it to my PEDALTRAIN but the Velcro tape will not stick to the rubber base of the Line 6 Verbzilla. Just peels right off.

Re: Velcro won't stick to Line 6 Verbzilla!

Remove the rubber base from the Verbzila, clean the bottom of it with rubbing alcohol, then use the industrial strength velcro from Home Depot or Lowes. You can even try the industrial velcro right on the rubber base but clean it with rubbing alcohol first. If it still comes off, remove the rubber base.

Always remove anything- rubber, felt, etc.., that's under the pedal. The velcro won't stick to it for long

Re: Velcro won't stick to Line 6 Verbzilla!

I had the same problem with my TS-9 when I moved my first pedalboard years ago. Just a small reason I no longer buy Boss or Ibanez pedals.

I am not familiar with that pedal, but is there a chance the bottom of the pedal can be flipped upside down and re-attached (re-attached with the rubber side facing the inside of the pedal)? I did that with my old CE-2.

I like this idea!

Re: Velcro won't stick to Line 6 Verbzilla!

Flipping the cover may not work because of a small ridge that run along the edges of the plate like on MXR pedals. BOSS pedals it can work because they don't have the ridge. I don't know if the bottom plate of the Line6 pedals has that ridge or not. Putting velcro on a ridged plate like a flipped MXR plate would not work well because the velcro would be recessed a bit not allowing maximum adhesion to the other side of the velcro.

I'd really do anything I could to avoid pulling off the rubber.

Plan B could be to take get some bicycle chain links and washers. Use the chain links and screws to attach the pedal to a piece of 1/4" plywood. Then stick velcro to the plywood.

Plan C - Zip Ties

3M makes an industrial two sided sticky tape that will glue practically anything to anything. Maybe use that to stick your velcro to the pedal?

Re: Velcro won't stick to Line 6 Verbzilla!

long velcro that goes up the sides of the pedal where it can stick

or maybe

staples (seriously)

Re: Velcro won't stick to Line 6 Verbzilla!

Here's a solution that will work for 99% of your pedals. Remove the bottom of the pedal. Cut some velcro that's about 2 inches longer than you need to cover the bottom plate. When you put the velcro on the bottom, wrap the extra length of velcro around both edges so it reaches around to the inside of the bottom plate. When you screw the bottom back on to the pedal, the extra velcro that's wrapped around will pinch between the bottom plate and the rest of the pedal, locking it in place for as long as you'll ever need it. Hope that makes sense. I do this with all my pedals and it works great. You don't even have to remove the rubber on Boss style pedals with this method.

Gorilla Glue, holds everything.

On a more serious note, I use chain links from bicycle chains. Its a little more difficult to move them around but once set, no issues, no glue mess, no residue, and totally reversible.
