Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

STRATDELUXER97

Stratoblaster Tone Meister
I read Lew's great review about this pedal and I feel like I'd like to have a pedal like this for when I use my old Marshall head for clean stuff...

1)Does it sound good running into the input of an older amp? Mainly my 50 watt NMV Marshall head as an example? Lew I Know you mentioned running it in stereo into your 2 Deluxes and that's a good thing.

2)Will it run on the Boss PSA 120 or that style adapter or will I have to buy the actual Line 6 adapter?

3)Any dislikes about this pedal and has anyone compared it to the Marshall reverb pedal that Jumpmarine reviewed?

Lew.....Do you still enjoy the pedal as much now,as you did upon first receiving it? Is it overkill with all the extra settings and do you find you mainly just use the vintage 63 style reverb tones?

Sorry about all the questions guys...Just answer what you want to for me! Much appreciated as always!

I'm looking at this one or the Marshall as I trust Lew and Jumpmarine, and other forum members reviews on things.

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

I don't own it, but I plan to buy it very soon, and have searched high and low for info about it.. As for your 2) question, I think you're good to go using exempli gratia the Boss adapter (or any other adapter which specifications more or less match..). The only thing I've seen people are having issues with, is if they're daisy chaining it, that will in most cases induce serious hum.

Hi John! Since you and I seem to like so many of the same things when it comes to tone I think you'll love this pedal.

1. It sounds great run into my tweed Deluxes and my tweed Super! First reverb pedal I've ever used that had truly satisfying "Fender" reverb. It has a setting called "62 Reverb" and that's the only setting I use.

2. I use mine with a Boss adapter

3. No dislikes whatsoever. It sounds great, will drive two amps in "stereo" and seems to be built like a tank!

4. Yep! I like it just a smuch now as when I bought it and I' play through it every day. Right now I'm using it with my tweed Deluxe and my '36 Rickenbacher Lap Steel...getting my chops up for a CD and to start gigging again.

All I can say is that when I compare it to the reverb in my Deluxe Reverb amps, YES: that reverb sounds a little better. But the Verbzilla's reverb is so good that when I'm using the reverb I'm only inspired by my tone and never think the Verzilla is lacking in anything.

Hi buddy! Lew thanks for the quick reply back! Excellent about what you're telling me and I think I'll order mine later on today from MF....If you like it I Know I will too!

Do you never use any of those other settings? I Listened to the settings on the MF website....One setting was very clean soughta Eric Johnson sounding and the Octo setting(I think it was) sounded kinda Andy Summers w/Police..

I also listened to the Marshall pedal and I might be remembering some of those tones also? That pedal was about $30 less and also had some nice sounds, but I fully trust your ears Lew! Thanks again...

Hope all is well with you buddy!?

My Marshall lacks reverb and I really miss it when we play clean stuff...I don't like alot of reverb, but I do like that added "space" and "ambience" we get from reverb though.

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

Hi John....

No I do not use any of the other settings. I'm not much for effects but I have used blackface Fenders with reverb for most of my life! I miss that reverb when I plug into an amp with no reverb (like my tweed or brownface Fenders or Matchless SC-30) so I used the Boss RV-3 until I got this Verbzilla. The Verbzilla is much better than the RV-3 although the Boss was Ok...

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

if the reverb in Line 6 amps is anything like the Verbzilla, you will be happy with it. I can get any reverb I want from my AX2. I prefer the Digital reverbs as opposed to "Spring" reverb, bu the Spring version is one of the best I have heard.

Let us know what it's like when you get it!

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

Mr Spina, you must be psychic. I concluded last night that I need to buy a reverb pedal and have been pondering these very same questions about the Verbzilla today. I didn't have the good sense to ask Lew though. Thanks guys! :)

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

I have the verbzilla, mainly using just the '62 spring into my jcm800, but all the other sounds are good and useable too.

It's a really good spring, it gets boingy if you want it to, which alot of modelers won't do.

Compared to the Fender Twin spring, it has a little less depth, but it's nothing noticeable if you're just playing, especially if you just want the ambiance.

I think I'm pysco actually.....:laugh2: I 100% trust Lew's(and others) views on things, plus he hasn't ever steered me wrong to date! We do have some similar tastes also,as Lew mentioned..

Like yourself Lew I've been playing through BF Fender combo amps for alot of years and it's my favorite clean amp tone with reverb....I also love my Marshall and I like having reverb with that amp for clean stuff also...As you know, last year I converted my Marshall over to PTP,Mercury magnetic transformers,Sozos etc..and it's just such a killer amp overall now! :fingersx:

I removed the P.I. master volume though quite awhile ago.

Thanks for posting.....I don't need surfer Richard Dale kind of reverb really.I just want the amount of spring reverb tone like if I were setting my BF Fender stuff to say between 2 and 3 on the reverb knob...As you say, just that extra dimension or space added to an already great clean tone! Like icing on a great cake basically.:laugh2:

Thanks....Did all that last year(or 2 years ago?)..It was something that I had wanted to do and had put off doing it for alot of years! It sure was well worth all the work in the end though.

For Cryin' Out Loud John....what makes it a Marshall now? The original Box and the Knobs? :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: I'll bet it sounds great though... :) Lew

I Know Lew and I apologize for the "abortion" and all,but it does sound great! You know I wouldn't play through it if it was just mediocre sounding..:laugh2:

It's got a few usable goodie mods that I added thanks to my friend Trace Allen helping me out...And this was his amp back in 99 before he sold it to me.

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

I ordered the Verbzilla a few minutes ago! Should be great, thanks to all of you.Reviews once I get it.

Re: Verbzilla Questions(Lew And Others)

back to verb: I'm sticking with my Holy Grail. I think the Verbzilla is really great too. Had I listened to one BEFORE I got the Holy Grail, I might have got it instead. But perhaps not. I just don't need all the other stuff. Just one good sound for a little air....

And, my REAL choice for Verb-o-the-Gods: Peavy Valverb!
