great pedal for sure. i compared it with my fender unit and its kinda like comparing the surfers to the classic stack +. its 90% there and sounds great, but when side by side you can tell the difference. the ease of use is a big difference though

as far as the holy grail, i tried both in the store before i picked up the zilla and while both were good, i think the line 6 had a little more complex tone, a little richer and clearer

One thing I like about the Line 6 over the outboard Fender Unit is that the Fender tube unit eats up a little of the output of the guitar pickup and weakens the tone slightly.

The Verbzilla doesn't seem to do that.

The Stack Plus vs. Surfers analogy is a good one!
