Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

Re: Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

Mine are good (I've got two). They're well made and easy to set up. What's not to like?

$50+ for the saddles? You can get the whole bridge for like $45 IIRC.

Re: Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

I'm not quite sure what they mean by swiveling in terms of intonation, but those are not compensated saddles.

Same thing as on my (complete) bridge. Does seem a little expensive, they StewMac are listing for around $62-63 for the whole thing - I know they're not the cheapest.

Re: Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

Yep - they came as standard equipment on a Suhr. They work fine.

Stewmac has the complete bridge for $62.99

Re: Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

I tried the Wilky's that swivel and went back to the compensated brass ones that simply have offset ridges. There was just something about the strings crossing the saddles at something other than a true ninety degrees that just bugged me.

Re: Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

+1 for the simple brass saddles with the screw thread drilled at an angle to allow for compensation.

The extra mass and materials of the Wilkinson swivel design may have some effect on tone.

Since, on almost all guitars, the string spacing at the bridge is wider than at the nut, the individual strings must be passing over their respective saddles at an angle other than ninety degrees.

Re: Verdict on Wilkinson Compensated Tele saddles?

I have a Wilkinson bridge with compensated saddles, still not perfect but definitely close and they seem pretty well made.

Never saw the swivel style sorry.
